YAY!! I cannot believe it’s already the start of the third trimester, it really does seem to have gone fast – although there were some days I thought may never end. Being pregnant during the holidays really does help though because you have about a month that just flies by – and luckily I felt great during that time! Still feeling good, go back for a checkup in a couple of weeks and then in for the 30 week sonogram which should be awesome because we haven’t seen him since week 18, so there should be a whole lot more to see!
He’s still moving around like a crazy person every day! He pretty much has his days and nights mixed up. He will wake me up between 7:30 and 8 a.m. to eat breakfast then not much movement most of the day but come bed time (around 9 p.m.) he starts getting wild! Of course I don’t mind because I love feeling his kicks and watching my stomach move around and look like a tidal wave going from one side to the other – it’s an amazing miracle.
Over Christmas break we went home to Texas to see all of our families. I also had my baby shower at that point. It was absolutely beautiful, so many of my friends were there, it was wonderful to get to see all of them. The hostesses did an amazing job, it was simply stunning – more than I could have imagined. And of course Luke got more than he may possibly ever need, but that’s o.k. Then when we got home there were several boxes that had been delivered and they just seem to keep coming – we are truly blessed. It’s amazing to have so many people who love us and love our sweet little boy before he ever even gets here.
On New Year’s Eve we spent the day in Malibu at the Getty Villa – it’s a museum of Roman antiquities. The grounds are designed after a villa in Pompeii that was buried when Mt. Vesuvius erupted, it was gorgeous and a lot of fun. Of course we came home that night and were in bed by 10 – our last New Year’s pre-kids and we were wimps! Oh Well!!
Yesterday we went to Pasadena to see the Rose Parade Floats the day after, you can get up close and see everything, it was amazing! It was 80+ degrees, so I was exhausted when we were done, but it was totally worth it.
So enough about what we’ve been up to, here’s what Luke’s been up to in there….
(not sure why this says month 6, it’s really month 7)
Baby’s now the size of an eggplant!
Baby’s lungs are mature enough that, if born right now, he has a pretty good chance of surviving (with help from medical technology). His skin is still pretty wrinkly (one byproduct of living in amniotic fluid) but will smoothen as fat continues to deposit.
How your baby’s growing:
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He’s also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
You’re in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week. If you’re like most women, you’ll gain about 11 pounds this trimester. He should start gaining about a half a pound a week these last 10-12 weeks – I can’t even imagine, he already feels so heavy in there. Let’s hope I only gain from him gaining, 11 pounds is plenty!!
Last thing, we also did our maternity pictures while in Texas. My precious friend Andrea did them, they are simply amazing, I will work on a few of them and post soon for everyone to see.
Until then….love you all.
